Matthew Robert Hall
About me
I am a composer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the North-East of England. My artistic focus lies in perception, implication, and expectation in music, often incorporating interdisciplinary elements. Currently, I am submitting my PhD in Composition at the University of York, where I have studied with William Brooks and am now working with Stef Conner, Catherine Laws, and Martin Suckling. My latest compositions delve into merging jazz concepts with the classical genre, experimenting with the interplay of improvisation, traditional notation, and computer-generated music. Recently, I've had fruitful long-term collaborations with The Assembled ensemble, a new music initiative for composers and performers, as well as Coracle choir in York.
