ABOUT

Matthew Hall is an English composer exploring the interface between indeterminacy and total improvisation.  Matthew has written in a wide range of styles and genres including contemporary classical, jazz and theatrical soundtrack.  After engaging in ethnomusicological research in both Central America and India, Matthew is currently a PhD candidate at the University of York, researching creative and pedagogical applications of John Coltrane’s compositional methods within the context of western classical musical traditions.
